Willow Brook was recommended to me by a mutual friend. They were unnecessarily slow, put incorrect information on my initial application (causing it to be declined once) and then submitted incorrect figures on my final application, leaving me in a difficult financial position that I am unable to deal with right now.I used Willow Brook Mortgages as my broker for my first house purchase, applying back in May. The process was very slow on their side (my application was being handled by Ollie and he paused it to go on a stag do, to a wedding, to pick up someone else's work, would email me to request info late in the day and then go on leave, etc) so it dragged on much longer than it needed to. I was very clear that I could only afford a 5% deposit (205k purchase). Ollie misled me as to how the £999 mortgage arrangement fee would be applied which caused me a lot of stress and problems later on. Then it turned out that Ollie had included two loans on the application that I had already paid off, causing the mortgage to eventually be declined. It was only after we proved that the loans were gone (they were no longer on my credit file) that the mortgage was then approved. At that point, my surveyor raised concerns about the property so I renegotiated the deal with the vendor so the purchase price dropped to £187,500. I immediately went back to Ollie so that we could update the application. I was still paying a 5% deposit and would be applying the fees to the mortgage. Ollie went through the application on the phone with me and I completely trusted what he was telling me (why wouldn't I?). I therefore did not check the numbers he was quoting at me. The updated mortgage offer was not sent to me and instead went straight to my solicitor. I paid them the deposit and we completed on July 21st. On August 25th, my solicitor emailed me to advise the funds received from the mortgage lender were short £1,034. This is the £999 arrangement fee plus the £35 funds transfer fee. I immediately spoke to Skye at Willow Brook (Ollie has since left the company) and she agreed with my guess that Ollie had not correctly applied the funds. Skye and subsequently Charles acknowledged that the funds were short but it was my solicitor's place to check this. Charles also then listened to my call with Ollie where we sorted the final mortgage and quoted the figures he advised. Upon working out the maths, these figures had no link at all with what I had asked for. Charles sent me a rather condescending email saying that as I work in Compliance, I should know to read documents properly. He had tried to call me a couple of times so I challenged back on his email and asked him to only communicate via email going forward as I did not like his attitude towards me. He has now stopped communicating with me completely. So while I did make a complaint, he has not properly addressed it and is instead ignoring me.I have been left in a position where I have had to find an extra £1,034 when I simply cannot afford to. I work in a highly sensitive industry so I need to keep my credit rating clean (and solicitors are very quick with the CCJs). I have borrowed £500 from my mother and the rest will be going on my credit card. Therefore, this month I will not be able to buy food.Ollie clearly made a mistake with my application and they refuse to make things right. How can a company that is alleged to be so good fail so miserably?
